Why Kinwise

What makes it different

The whole family participates

Not just one storyteller answering questions alone. Everyone gets the question — grandma, dad, your adult kids, cousins. Your archive captures a family in conversation.

No app required.

Questions arrive by text or email with a link. Tap it, and you’re sharing your story — write, record audio, record video, or send a photo. No app to download, no account to create, no password to remember.

Four ways to make a book

Because your whole family answers, you can create books no other service can: a family yearbook, one person’s memoir, everyone’s answer to one question, or a hand-picked collection.

Your archive grows forever

Every response — text, voice, video, photo — is transcribed, searchable, and preserved. Download your full archive as PDF or ZIP anytime. Your stories belong to you.

FAQ

Common questions

What does $99/year include?

Everything. Unlimited family members, a curated question library with the ability to add your own, text/voice/video/photo responses, a searchable archive, and free PDF/ebook export. The only thing that costs extra is printed physical books.

How is this different from StoryWorth?

StoryWorth asks one person to answer questions — it’s a memoir tool. KinWise asks the whole family. Grandma, dad, your adult kids, cousins — everyone gets the question, everyone answers. You end up with a family in conversation, not one person’s diary. And StoryWorth’s unlimited plan costs $199/year. KinWise is $99 for unlimited members, always.

How is this different from Remento?

Remento charges $99 per storyteller. If you want grandma and grandpa to both participate, that’s $198. With KinWise, your entire family is included for one flat $99. Remento also charges $49.99 for an ebook and $69 for extra book copies. KinWise ebooks are free, and printed books start around $26.

Do printed books cost extra?

Yes. PDF and ebook downloads are always free. Physical books are printed on demand through Lulu. A typical softcover starts around $26 and a hardcover around $34, plus $7.99 shipping. Because your whole family participates, you can create book types other services can’t — a family yearbook, a single person’s memoir, everyone’s answer to one question, or a hand-picked collection.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The annual plan includes 30 free days. We save your card at signup but don’t charge it for 30 days. If you don’t love it, cancel before day 30 and you’re never charged. Monthly plans ($12/mo) are billed immediately.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel in your dashboard with one click. Your archive stays accessible until the end of your paid period, and you can download everything at any time. We’ll never hold your stories hostage.

Why don’t you charge per person?

Because family stories aren’t lived alone. The same Sunday dinner, the same road trip, the same front porch — everyone remembers it differently. That’s what makes a family archive rich. One person’s account is a memoir. The whole family’s is a living history. Charging per person would mean most families only hear from one voice — and that’s exactly what we’re trying to fix. And when it’s time to make a book, you choose: Grandpa Jake’s stories on their own, Aunt Ruth’s memoir, or the whole family’s answers to the same question side by side. One archive, as many books as you want.

Can I give KinWise as a gift?

Yes. Gift subscriptions are $99 (1 year) or $179 (2 years). The recipient gets a link to set up their family archive — no payment required on their end. The whole family benefits from a single gift.
